The Wymondham Heritage Museum is an exceptional regional museum situated in the Wymondham Bridewell which was originally a 'model prison'.
The model prison (1785) was based on the ideas of the great prison reformer John Howard. As well as a prison, the Bridewell has also served as a former police station and courthouse.
The museum explains the history of the Bridewell and also offers a journey through Wymondham's colourful history and covers events such as Robert Kett's rebellion and the Great Fire of 1615. There are permanent exhibitions of daily life in Wymondham covering brushmaking, farming and shopping.
Children's activities include visiting the dungeon, listening to stories by the gaoler and policeman or trying the prunishment 'crank' in the prison display.
The museum also offers a lovely garden and a friendly welcome in the tearoom.Tue, 02 Oct 2012 16:16:20 -0700Dalegate Market | Shopping Cafe
Welcome to Dalegate Market, the retail site with shops and Deepdale Cafe in Burnham Deepdale. The shopping centre is on the A149 coast road, approximately half way between Hunstanton and Wells-next-the-Sea in the heart of the beautiful north Norfolk coast. The centre is quickly becoming a major hub, offering a place to relax, shop, eat, drink and connect with friends and family.
The site includes Leftley's Costcutter supermarket and fuel station (petrol and diesel), Deepdale Café, Fat Face clothing shop, Gone Crabbing Norfolk souvenirs shop, Relish jewellery and accessories shop, One Stop Nature Shop, The Hare The Hen gallery and Philippa Lee Pottery workshop, Norfolk Hideaways holiday cottage agency and Deepdale Information visitor information centre. Plus our newest addition, Deepdale Bike Hire.
Dalegate Market is popular with visitors, tourists and locals, whether they are shopping for the essentials like bread and milk, or spoiling themselves or others with presents and gifts such as jewellery, clothing, art and crafts. The site fits well with the tourism facilities of Deepdale Farm next door, which include Deepdale Backpackers Hostel, Deepdale Camping, Deepdale Tipis and Yurts and Deepdale Granary Group Hostel.Thu, 03 May 2012 16:53:49 -0700
